The opinions of people regarding Kirby vacuums are usually in two distinct categories. One group feels that they are the best vacuums that money could ever buy and worth every penny. The second group sees them as overrated and expensive machines. There does not seem to be much middle ground when it comes to the Kirby Vacuums. Many of the people who do not like Kirby or think it is too costly really do not know that much about the brand, and they assume that people who buy one do not know any better. Those who do purchase Kirby vacuums, however, know about the quality and the durability that the brand has, and they find that there are no other brands that will last as long or work as well. They would simply not be satisfied with an ordinary Oreck Vacuums. They can certainly purchase a cheaper cleaning machine, but they avoid doing so because they know that it will not last as long as a Kirby and the warranty will often not be what they are looking for, either.

For people who decide that they are interested in a Kirby vacuums, they cannot simply go to a store and purchase one. A lot of people just go to their local retail chain store, and they do not understand why they cannot find the Kirby brand. This brand is not sold in stores, though, and people who wish to buy one have to find a sales representative and get that person to come to their home. Generally, they find someone through a family member or a friend who is a Kirby owner, but the phone book and the Internet can also point them in the right direction. In the past, representatives from the company used to go door to door and try to sell vacuums, but that is not seen as often anymore. It does still happen in some parts of the country where Kirbys are more popular, however, because there are specific areas in the United States where the brand is seen as having more value than in other areas, as a generalization.

The people who find a representative and sit through an in-home demonstration will get all of the information that they need about the Kirby brand. They see how well the vacuum works, and they also learn about the warranty and other options, including the opportunity to finance their Kirby. A lot of people who purchase one cannot afford to buy it outright, so they agree to make payments, at an often rather high interest rate, until their vacuum is paid for. The Kirby vacuum is an investment in taking care of their home, not just a machine to clean their carpets. Not everyone sees this, of course, and there are people who would never dream of financing a vacuum cleaner, but many people who own Kirbys insist that they would not buy anything else. The attachments that come with them and the prestige that is attached to the Kirby name are only a couple of reasons why people pay a lot of money to acquire one.
