Snap-On or Blue Pointe?
A relative is finishing his mechanics training and I said I would buy him a set of wrenches. I spoke with the Snap-On route guy and he said I could get him a set of either metric or standard ratcheting Snap-On wrenches for one price or get both sets in Blue Pointe for about the same price. He's going to be working full time as a mechanic. Which would you get him for a gift?
If he is going to be a full time mechanic, get a quality set of wrenches. The biggest thing is a lifetime warranty. I know Snap-On does and I'm not familiar with Blue Pointe, but they may not. A full time mechanic can wear out a set of ratchet wrenches that are cheap in a hurry. I would get the nicer set.
You may also want to look at Matco, as they are popular with professional mechanics.
A good set will last a lifetime. A crappy set will last a year, if that.
