Huge Snap Tools

Could a "Professional Photographer" please help me?

I started off just taking random pictures of my oldest daughter over 2 years ago and noticed my shots slowly improving.. That sparked a huge interest in photography for me and I've been "snap happy" ever since.
I guess I want honest critique on my work and am open to receiving constructive criticism without getting defensive. Flickr has been a huge help to me over the last year but I find 90% of the time the comments I receive are. . "Great Shot" or "Beautiful". That's no help to me. I know myself I need a lot of improving (especially with my post processing, I tend to over edit thinking "The brighter the better")
I don't have a fancy camera either. Canon Powershot A570 IS but it has been great for me to learn with..
Some day I want to start my own business when I have all the right tools but need some reinsurance that my photos are worthy of that Wow factor to keep me going.. Thanks so much

I think you have a very promising career ahead of you, IF you can get yourself the right equipment. You've done very, very well with that little camera of yours.
The water images are excellent. When you do shots like that do as many as you can, over and over and over again. Those kinds of images that are any good take a lot of shots to find that "one" that says it all. That one that has that "wow" factor. You're getting there. Imagine what you could do with a camera that can use high speed strobes and/or with a super-fast shutter speed.
Many of your child shots are great. Some are only so, so.
The leaves on the ground are superb.
It looks like you have a real interest in stopping fast action. If that is true, you need a fast camera shutter, like I said. A fast shutter, and a lens that can open up to as wide an f-stop as possible would help you a great deal. But, even better would be the use of a high speed strobe, which could fire at a speed of 1/10,000 sec or faster. And, with that strobe you could even use a smaller f-stop like f22 which would give you a better depth-of-field on your small, fast moving, subjects.
Also, if you had a camera that could fire many shots at the same time on continuous, you could capture just the right shot of your child throwing snow balls instead of guessing at it.
You ARE good, so you need GOOD equipment. To start out, I would suggest a Nikon D70s. This is good for a beginning and it has interchangeable lenses too. You can only go so far with the camera you've got. You deserve better. Trust me on that.
