olympus fe210 digicam n batteries problem?
i use olympus fe210 n my prob is that the rechargeable batteries (camelion ni-cd AA) do not come for long. i charge them for 7hrs(recommended time as per charger) and they come only for 9-10 snaps, i switch off the camera when not in use n switch on only when i need to take a snap n this is the case, after which im shown 'empty' on the screen. if i leave it on then i can take hardly 5 snaps in a time period of 10mins. suggestions?
The batteries should be replaced. The older NiCD batteries have terrible capacity and have the memory effect (capacity falls if charged when not empty).
Visit an electronics or drug store for a new set of NiMH rechargables. These newer rechargables last upto 4x longer than normal alkaline batteries and don't have the NiCD memory effect. These should run about $30 to $80 for a set of 4AA and the appropriate charger. Teh price depends on brand and charger features. Some can even charge to 80% in 15min. Energizer is usually a really good bet. I've been using my set for years.
Cautionary note: NEVER charge a recharable battery in the wrong type of charger. It can cause a fire and/or explosion. Follow manufactuers instructions and safety warnings.
Please DO NOT THROW AWAY rechargable batteries. The heavy metals poison the earth. Many electronics stores offer free recycling service for cell phones and rechargable batteries. If not, some fire departments will take them as well.
